Just got a 2GB Ultra II SD and 8GB Ultra II CF!!!
Hey guys, this is my first post and the last 4 days have been pure heaven for me.

First off, I bought an x51v high off a guy on hardforums for a great price (joecrouton). It came Saturday and if it hadn't been for a few strips of scotch tape here and there you would have thought it was brand new. The screen protector was flawlessly installed and still without a scratch. The day before I went out to Circuit City and bought a 2GB Ultra II SD card to prepare for my beloved Axim and had ordered an 8GB Ultra II CF a couple days before that. Today when I checked my mail there was a beautiful USPS box in the mailbox holding 8GB of pure sex.

Today I sit here and type to you through my excitement of enjoying a flawless, beautiful x51v with 10GB of blazing fast storage that has yet to be popped.

With me having spring break this week and getting 6-12 inches of snow from 9 tonight until 4 tomorrow afternoon, I'm prepared to "suffer"

I ordered a 4GB SD and will soon be ordering my 8GB microdrive once I get my $25 off coupon for buy.com credit card signup. Making my total 12 GIGS. I have no idea what I'm gonna go with all that space.

Wow! You guys are going all out, I thought I had a lot with my brand new 8GB MD and a 1GB SD. I don't think I can fill 9 gigs, but I'm gonna try!!

With that amount of space, you can load up a ton of mp3s and have your axim as your main portable music player. Good to store a few movies/shows as well! I plan to have the 8GB/4GB combination as well.

I've heard that some of the CF 'photo drives' do not work well with the Axim series... What's the scoop or where may I go to find the facts?

I have an Axim X51v and would like to fill the CF slot with something nice... LOL

Nice purchases oC|-TiTaN. If you are considering an upgrade, Sandisk is planning to mass market a secure digital/USB hybrid that stores 2 GB with an expected minimum sustained writing speed of ~9 MB per second.

I know...even I'm impressed. Watching Family Guy right now I have 9 divx quality episodes on the CF with 7GB free...drool doesn't even begin to describe it

One question though. You know whenever you install a program and it asks where to install and you have the onboard, SD, and CF to choose from? Well the SD detects correctly as having about 1.9GB free but the CF has about 6.9GB free and it only says around 2.9GB available, but if I got to Settings->Memory it detects the correct capacity. Is this something to worry about, or no (considering I put media on the CF and programs on the SD)?

I do not know. Which process says that only 2.9 gigs are available? File Explorer?

The standard suggestion is to reformat the card in a card reader. If you don't have one yet, get one asap.

I have a 2gb and a 1gb CF, but am seriously considering picking up a Seagate 8gb CF! It's wierd, but my X51v plays my videos better than my PC does. If I had that 11gb of space to toy with, I'd never use my computer again .

The Seagate 8 GB works fine. There are some microdrives that were designed for mp3 players and don't meet the cf specs. Those ones don't work. But there are a lot of people here that have microdrives because they are do cheap.

But I did see a sale for a 4gb sd card yesterday for $109/free shipping.

Prices are dropping.

The fry's experience.
I went to fry's today all happy and ready to get the seagate 4 gig microdrive for 79.00 but I noticed that the package said for photo storage type II camera's, so I asked the salesman if it would work in my Axim and he said no. So instead I got a PQI SD 60x for 24.99 after rebate. Well i guess to point...Does the 60x even go that fast in a Axim x50 and was I lied to by the salesman? Any help would be appreciated because I would like to get the seagate aswell. Thanks
