SD to CF TYPE II Adaptor
I have read many posts debating whether to go Microdrive for price or CF for no battery drain........not to mention the tricks to fill the space when using a Type I card in a Type II slot.

I would love to know if anyone has ever tried this adaptor???

http://www.mittoni.com.au/secure-dig...ii-p-1238.html

Could this be a great compromise? It would fill the space and enable people to use any spare SD cards they have accumulated over time...

Do you think the card access time would be noticeably slower?

I had to check out this thread, thinking, "Why woulr anybody want a SD to CFII adapter, vs. a SD to CFI? Good answer! The retailer says, however, that it tops out at 1GB. Not sure whether this is true; I have gotten my 1GB SD to work in a device that said Max. 512MB. I had to reformat it FAT16. Too bad it doesn't support 2 SD cards at once! That would be sweet. I do know that there are other people on the Aximsite forums who have used a SD-CF adapter. This should work; research it. Card access time w0uld likely be on par with CFII speeds, so you should keep bulk files there and externally installed programs on the SD card in the SD slot.
p.s. Welcome to Aximsite.

FYI, here's the manufacturer's emailed response to card readability;

Dear Scooter Blues,

Thank you for your email, the SD to CF Adapter Type II has been successfully tested with a 2GB SD card. We have also successfully tested it with one of our Magu 4GB SD Cards, however we have not tested them with any other brand 4GB Cards so can not confirm compatibility with other brand cards.

Kind Regards,

Carolyn

I have an eagletec SD-to-CF adapter and it supports my 4GB SD card. It would be nice if it were a thinner CF type I card. Anybody have a type I adapter that supports greater than 1GB SD?

I used an SD/CF adapter, same size as an ordinary CF card but woefully slow in use, a useful thing to have for ocassional use but from my experience I wouldn't recommend it.

I have to say that I think this is a little overpriced, particularly considering how cheap CF cards are these days. You can get 1Gb CF cards for well under $100 on eBay, and 2Gb cards for a little over (I got my 2Gb Sandisk for $130).

I can see the point if you want it for transfering pics from your camera or something, but for constant storage I think your better going with a 1Gb CF card (and putting the 1Gb SD in the SD slot if you haven't).

But if you do want to be able to use SD in your CF slot then this looks good.

I decided the do the same "fix" on my X50v as I did on my h2215.

Works great for me. Fills the spot just right, its unnoticable, and its easily removed. I taped the card to the CF so that when the CF is pulled out, the card comes too.
