Patriot Signature/Extreme CF, do you have comment?
I won this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7603845877
it's $349 if I opt "Buy it now"
Patriot memory is a small brand, but I read some + feedback on newegg
will post the initial comment later
btw, I dump all mp3 files (6.95GB) into Seagate PDA hard drive for "pocket disk"
just received the card (USPS certified and insured)
but it's not in complete package (just a card in protective case)
just did a writing speed test (I have no tool for reading test)
host: Dell Inspiron 6000d with 5400rpm HD
folder size:285MB
card reader: Sandisk Imagemate 12 in 1
test result:
Patriot Extreme: 52 seconds
Kingston Elite Pro: 1 min 01 seconds
Seagate 8GB PDA hard drive: 1 min 35 seconds
52s for 285MB translates to 5.5MB/s. This is not impressive, but I guess there were many small files in that folder. Can you confirm this? How many files reside in that folder, and what are the minimum and maximum file sizes?

6 folders
64 files (ogg vorbis files)
I guess it's 66x
I paid $227, I don't expect much
as long as it works, it's fine
the actual card is same as the pic
but the label is on the bottom (flap side)
after some initial test, it shows 7.53GB after formatting
the size is correct
update:
put the DVD into the card (7.15GB), took about 23 minutes
the movie runs smooth
another writing test
using a single 1GB file (*.vob), here is the result
Patriot: 2:52
Kingston: 3:04
Seagate: 3:54
reading speed (move an 1GB file back to host)
Patriot: 2:35
Kingston: 2:46
Seagate: 3:45
Speed is the reason why I no longer use MicroDrives. But something must be wrong with your Seagate card or card reader. My Hitachi 3k6 is very slow at a bit over 2MB/s, but even it would copy a 25MB file in about 12 seconds.
Thanks for the info ming. I assumed the card was a 133x, therefore the disappointment re. speed. BTW, 5.5MB/s is also approximately what I get from my 80x Transcend.
