MicroDrive Query

Does the Axim access the MicroDrive if I am not running anything from it? Or does it leave it alone as though it is not there? What I am really trying to ask is does the Ax use any extra battery if I am not accessing the MicroDrive?

Since there could be application data on the micro drive that was previously accessed and would be necessary to track that by the OS I would say there would be a small amout of power needed for this tast. Now that I have put my self on a limb I am sure some electrical engineer will come forward with a saw and cut me off!

If you only have multimedia files on your CF microdrive and no applications (which I wouldn't recommend), then your MD should power down while it is not accessed. Certain multimedia players, like TCPMP (http://tcpmp.corecodec.org) have a "microdrive mode" which will buffer your files and allow the MD to go dormant, saving battery.

i do notice though, that every time i resume from suspend, my MD spins up for a couple seconds. as i suspend/resume countless times during the day, this does drain my battery quite a bit
