sd 150x compatible card reader
I recently got a 2gb SD 150x card and found that my card reader won't recognise it, though it works perfectly in my x50v.

Can anyone recommend a card reader which is compatible with these super fast 150x cards?

Ideally I'd like a usb flash drive style SD reader that I can carry around with me. If anyone could recommend anything good, cheap and reliable I'd be very grateful indeed.

Thanks.

Dazzle has a 'Thunderbolt' reader that is supposed to be a good deal faster than normal readers, it runs around $20. I haven't tried it personally and I don't know how it compares to other readers.

That's the first one I found with a picture.

The SanDisk ImageMate 12-1 reader reads my 4GB Transcend 150x SD card just fine.

I can highly recommend the Kingston TravelLite - a very small SD/MMC card reader approx like a USB key with an interchangable media. It's fast and works perfectly with both my 4GB MMC and SD cards.
There is a link in MyPDA.

The Transcend "TS-RD13R Portable Multi-Card Reader" is another hi-speed multi-card option. It is about as fast and smaller as the SanDisk, but larger than the Kingston; about $25.

I have the Transcend TS-RD13 as well -- in silver. It is pretty small for a 5-slot reader ( 2.75" x 2.75" x 0.625" ) and I got about 11MB/s average transfer from PC to A-Data 150x SD. I also have an internal Y-E Data YD-8V07 7in1 plus 3.5" floppy drive combo, but I had to update the FIRMWARE in order for it to read the A-Data. I get about 8MB/s average transfer from PC to SD with this reader.

You might check to see if your reader allows firmware flashing and check for a new version. Very few offer flashing unless you paid big bucks for the reader.
