Question Convert to mobile device format...?

Hello,

I often use my Axim X50 for podcast listening.

At present, I dowload mp3s on my PC and then I move them to my SD card via ActiveSync (WinMobile 2003 sec edition)

I've read about better solutions like this http://www.yorkspace.com/2005/09/30 so I would like to by an SD/CF reader.

I would like to know if the card reader solution will work flawlessly, because I'm a bit worried buy a message I read when I copy a file with ActiveSync: the window's title is "Copy And Convert to mobile device format..."

So my questions are:
- what does it mean "Convert to mobile device format"?
- if I simply use a Card Reader (I guess WinXp will show me it like some sort of additional drive, let's name it G:) and I copy my files on the G: drive, the Axim will immediately recognize those files?

Thanks in advance for your precious help.

Yes, once you put the card in the Axim, you can access those files on the card.

MP3 files are pretty much standard and should not need any converting.

In essence, you should be able to copy mp3 files onto the card, pop the card in your axim and listen to them with no problems.

Thats how it works for me. Copy and paste. Using a card reader not AS is alot faster for the larger file types.

Thanks for your really useful replies.

So, for what you write, I guess that convertion is needed only for some file formats. Isn't it?
