Encrypting Info on SD cards
I store client details on my Axim, - some in BIS and some on the SD card, - whilst I have a password to prevent access to the X51V - if the SD card is removed - could anyone put it in another machine and read the data?

If so - how can I protect this data, - I'm a bit unsure why it called a 'secure digital' card if it's not secure?

thanks

Tony

Your right about the SD card. You need a multi layer security system.

First of all, start with Pocket Secure. That will take care of any general access issues on your PPC by intruders. Pocket secure http://www.totalpocketpc.com/ has many more features then the standard password utility. The support is first rate.

Next, buy software that encrypts files. SPB Pocket + has this feature. Otherwise check out www.nyxbull.net for NYX Encrypter (it's free).

Another more powerful an all-in-one solution is SafeGuard PDA. It can create virtual encrypted disks.

SD got its name from the little slide switch. When you move the switch, you can only read from the card - not write to it. Its like removing the little tab on a cassette or VCR tape so you don't record over somthing.

Check this out. It may do what you want. I haven't used it, but it's freeware.
