SD vs. Compact Flash
I want to get a large (4GB) card for my X51v. It seems like there are a lot of peripherals that use the compact flash slot so I was thinking I'd get an SD card. Does anyone know how they compare on speed and reliability?

Thanks,
Tim

SD cards are suppossedly faster... I personally can't tell the difference when writing or reading videos from or to my cards when they are on the pda. With a PC, you can tell that the SD card is faster. None of my cards have ever given me problems of reliability or such... I would advise you to have your software on your CF and to have all your mp3 and books or whatsoever on the SD. And to install the programs for your CF periperals in the Built in memory.

Why not install on the SD card? That way he doesn't loose any applications when he removes the CF card to use a peripheral? I'm waiting for my SD card to come, all my applications are installed to the 1gb CF card I have in it at the moment but I'll be reinstalling everything after a hard reset when I get the card.

My old camera used CF but my new one uses SD, so I didn't really want to get CF just for the axim. SD prices are pretty cheap these days anyway with a 4GB SD going for $80 after rebates. To use both axim slots, I got a SD-to-CF adapter so I can use both slots with SD cards. The only reason I would go with CF is for capacity (8GB CF).

go SD over CF, just nicer fit, CF slot is type 2, and CF memory is type 1. Type 1 fixes Type 2, but leaves a gap for large gap for dirt.

I use Both Types, But CF is usually cheaper then SD when you start going for Higher memory, and CF Cards can be found with Higher memory ranges if you need more memory.

I am getting a x50 or x51 but am Confused. Exactly what do I call the SD and CF cards when I look for them on eBay? Do I need to say CF 2 and SD 2 or CF Type 2 and SD Type 2 OR just simply SD and CF?
Also, in general, I do not plan on using peripherals, so is it there an advantage to storing all data on SD, and all images on CF or not necessarily?
Thanks all.

One more question -- CF and SD sources?
Besides the eBay sellers, any other super good price places out there?

Maybe to stash a Quarter, in case you need to use a public phone?
