sd cards... falling apart?
alright, i thought maybe this was a fluke. i got a 1gb a-data turbo sd sd card from newegg some time ago (lets say 2 years). it started literally falling apart. i eventually accidentally broke it by putting it in an incompatible device (oh great, how can flash memory be "incompatible"? sounds like a bunch of BS to me). when i sent it in, the thing was literally almost in pieces (thanks newegg for honoring my warranty). soo, i got the new sd card and everything's been fine (this was right around when i got my axim, which was roughly 3 months ago). now, this one has been _rapidly_ deteriorating. today, the thing completely broke in half (the plastic, not the internals). so, i tried electrical tape, no go. the only thing left was a little super glue. i decided to do that, and it seems to have worked very well, but the thing is still falling apart at an alarming rate. the corners and the tip of it are going to be gone very soon.
since i got 2 cards that did the exact same thing, now i pretty-much am certain that it's the particular sd card. the problem is, the first one took a year to start falling apart. my question is, who has sd cards that have broken in similar ways? what have you done to fix them? what brand/capacity/model number was it?
i would like to use this thread to build a database of "stay away from" sd cards, and a database of "these are good quality cards" kinda thing.
just so you know, i have a 128mb lexar card which i've had since the dawn of time, and you can tell by holding it, looking at it, etc that it's a FAR superior build quality of the a-data card. it's strong, stuff, no flexing at all. never had anything ever "flake off" of it. i am almost convinced to start purchasing lexar cards despite the price/performance difference but i dunno =\
