On my Axim, I've got a 2GB SD card used for programmes and some ebooks.

8GB CF is used for music / videos and wikipedia! I get around 1,000 tracks on the card plus a couple of videos and wikipedia. I change the music files now and then from the PC (which has over 20,000 on) using Winamp. IMHO about 1,000 tracks is plenty!

I'd like to ipoint out also that if oyu get an Axim, you can get a Ratox/TwinParadox USB Root Hub card and then plug in an external USB HD... that should give you PLENTY of space (USB HD are upto 160GB I think...)

I'm thinking of getting an iPod nano instead of a Bluetooth earphone set. The bulk is about the same, and I'll get a lot more for the money, without the annoying hassle of running down my Axim battery while listening to music.

Was there ever a clear answer on HOW BIG an SD card the X50v can handle? I am going to purchase a 4gb SD if it can handle it.

I bought a 4gb pqi sd card a few weeks ago and it works great on my x51v.

I'm not really sure whether its the wm5 or the axim or what, but every program I've put on the sd card seems not to have a problem running from an sd card (as compared to my old 4150 ipaq).

If you're gonna drool, drool over the new 12gb CF cards (solid state) much lower battery drain than a MD (though I'm looking at MDs too bc of the lower price lol)

I only have a 2GB card. I might upgrade to 4GB but I wished I had a CF slot. :(

BTW at my Fry's the 8GB microdrives and solid media CF are oretty close in price.

Any news on 12GB CF card compatibility with Axim x51v/x50 devices? Did anyone tried it?

Theoretical limit of CF, SD cards on the Axim X51

While the obvious card limit is the size that you can buy (or afford), is there a maximum memory limit that the Axim can not address?

While the (non SDHC) SD cards seem to have maxed out at 4GB, I wonder about the CF cards. The largest that I have seen is 16GB, but the microdrives probably are available in larger sizes. If produced, would a 32GB CF card work in an Axim?

16GB CF card - down to $249

16Gb cards can be had for like 170$, which is good stuff for Flash memory!

4gb SD non sdhc max ...

on a side note: why would anyone buy a microdrive card nowadays? Everything points towards flash memory ... I must be missing something.

And for the record, the largest microdrive currently available is 8GB... while 12GB CF cards are becoming common, and 16GB's are available, with 32GB on the horizon....
