2gb recognised, 1gb lost

I have purchased a viking 2gb SD card. I have never been able to put 2gb of info on it. The SD card is recognised as 2gb by the card reader via XP. The axim x51V recognises that the card has 2gb. However I only have 300Mb (about 40 mp3s)stored on the card and XP and the axim says there are 1.3GB stored. I have formatted the card (fat32) using XP to no avail. Trying to put a file of over 700mb results in the "destination drive is full". Is it a dodgy card or is there some way to retrieve my lost gig?

Thanks in advance.
John

I recently got my X51V with a 2G Adata SD card. Before I used the card I formatted FAT32 it on my XP workstation using a card reader. I got 2GB at that time.

It appears as if WM5 is splitting the card in 2 parts, with only one part accessible. Using Total Commander, I got to the root dir and select properties on the SD card. The Disk Space tab says I have 929M out of 1905 free. I have installed a few programs, but nothing big. I have all my installed programs on the SD card, but only about 10 of them.

No,
I got it from a reputable dealer (ebuyer) who have good feedback re:this. I do realise that this is a possibility - however, why would it show up 2 gb on axim and via card reader if it didn't truly have 2gb storage?

Success

Using resco file explorer I formatted the card on the PDA. Then put 1.7Gb of info on it!

Easier than expected but what a pain.
