Formatting any card SD or CF can be done on your unit but it takes a lot longer than using a card reader and doing the formatting on your PC. I use a card reader for both my SD and CF cards.

So. Let me see if I got this straight (sorry but I don´t have a card reader)
My laptop reads my SD. I copy & paste all the contents from the card to my laptop. Then I format it with SKtools or resco and then I can copy all the contents back?
I ask because my x50v doesn´t display the correct amount left on the SD and sometimes shows the available memory as 0Kb but I don´t actually wish to lose my info on the sd

And this works even if you have programs on the card? You just cut and paste and then when you repaste them to the newly formatted card, everything still knows to look in the SD card for those programs??

yup, it's only files that are on the card so that's perfectly fine
Perfect. That'll save me $20 buying SPB Backup. I can keep using the backup on SK Tools. :)

Don't know how useful this is, but the last time my SD card was corrupted, I needed to reformat it but I didn't have a card reader and I couldn't format the card through my Axim (I tried StorageTools and Flash Format, but neither program could format the SD card - a very long and frustrating story).
The interesting part of all of this is I put my SD card into my digital camera and re-formatted from there. I lost all of the data, of course, but at least the full storage was available.
