I have recently upgraded the SD card on my Axim X30 from 512MB to 2GB. I have music files, Excel spreadsheets, and an Access database on my old card. I have tried to move files to desktop and then transfer them to the new SD card, but I am getting incomplete results. Does anyone know of the best option to move data DIRECTLY from one SD card to another?

Get a card reader and transfer to your pc then to the other card thats the fastest way.

Did you go through activesync or did you use a card reader?
I transferred info with a card reader on my pc when I upgraded from 1gb sd to 4gb sd. Everything (including programs installed on the sd) went smoothly on my x51v.

Like everyone said just use a cardreader. A lot of modern computers(especially notebooks) have built in readers.
When I upgraded my SD card i just made a temp directory on mylaptop and copied everything off the old card. I then swapped the new card and copied everything back..
Put the new card in the pda and voila, it's like nothing has changed except a lot of free space.
I use Ice Mirror from Ice Graphics, either plug both cards in and mirror one to the other or mirror to a desktop folder and then from that to the new card - I have done it both ways with perfect results.
Thanks for all the great responses. It looks like a card reader is the best solution. When I wrote "incomplete results", I was referring to some music files that did not copy over correctly (missing or corrupt). What would be a decent reader to get? What about Alastair's reference to "Ice Mirror"
I have this sony internal card reader. Just $12 Canadian. Works like a charm with SD, memory stick pro, cf, microdrive, ... It's internal, but the connection is USB 2.0, so it can be used as external too -- just won't look nice. http://cty.ca/details.asp?pid=1168
OK, so I got a Sandisk 5 in 1 reader. When I go to transfer the data on the old SD card, to the new SD card (In my Axim X30 thru ActiveSync cradle), it does not recognize the "Mobile Device" when I browse "My Computer" (Through the reader), yet if I minimize the transfer program and check "My Computer" via the desktop, it shows the mobile device is connected. All this means that I have to transfer the contents of the old card to the pc and then copy it back to my connected X30. This conversion process screws up my Access database and is very time consuming (especially on music files). So how does the reader help?
I want to transfer data direct from one SD card to the other.
I'm a bit confused as to what you have done. Are you still using activesync as part of your transfer?
You should put your old sd card in the reader and transfer all contents to your pc (make up a temp folder on your pc to put the sd content in). Then take out your old sd card and put in your new sd card into the reader. Now transfer the sd content from your pc to your new sd card.
Then put your new sd card into your axim. Your axim shouldn't even know that you've swapped sd cards. It should accepted your new as old. The only difference is that you have more memory available.
Yes, I have done that. Going from my old sd card from the reader to my computer CONVERTS the files in the process. (.psd files once again become .doc files, etc. I think I found the problem. I found a check box in the "Active Sync" that will allow transfer without conversion. I'm in the process of verifying all my data. I have a new problem, however. Every time a I sync up my Pocket PC via the cradle, I end up with a "Temporary Internet" folder on my storage card. I have no idea what causes this and can't find any solution with "Active Sync". Can still use your help, which is greatly appreciated.
My files are OK, so it was the check box in my "Active Sync" options that allows for files to be transferred without conversion. Also, figured out why I started getting the "Temporary Internet" folder. It seems that when I was checking my storage card memory using "Memory Maid", I inadvertantly selected the storage card instead of Main Memory for that files location. Now I am back in business. In the end, whether I had a card reader or not didn't matter. I can access my storage card through "Active Sync", which shows up in my desktop computer as a "Mobile Device" . Then I can just copy the storage card info to a temp file on my desktop computer as you mentioned. I thought that the reader would allow a "card to card" transfer. But you learn something new everyday.
Card reader was suggested because it's much faster than transferring through activesync. You will find it useful when you transfer a large amount of data (e.g., large video files or a collection of mp3s).
