should PPC detect switching storage cards

My daughter pulled the normal card out of her PPC and put in the card from her camera, so she could view her pics on the screen. But the PPC was still showing the directory structure of the old card. I had to do a soft reset before it would read the contents of the new card. This does not sound like correct behavior to me. What should be the correct procedure for switching memory cards?

so you use the stock file explorer or third party one? This sometimes happen to me (I use GSFinder+) but after I completely close and re-launch it again, it reads in the new card contents.

I use Resco File Explorer, but it works in both Resco's and the built-in file explorer.

Try turning the axim on before you switch cards. If I switch cards with the axim off, it will frequently not detect the card change. If it is powered on, it does. The SD slot seems to exibit this more frequently than the CF.

I have the same issue as msadler, I *must* turn my Axim on before I insert a new SD card or it will just use the old directory structure until I remove and reinsert the SD card I want to use.

I really don't know if this is the "Correct" way of doing it, but memory cards are hot-swappable so changing them while the system is on should not cause any problems unless you are running programs that are using the card at the time.
