SanDisk 12GB Extreme III CF Card $205 shipped from Amazon

For those of you who wish to have more than the 8GB readily available in CF format, 12GB cards seem to be coming down in price. If you have deep pockets, a the 12GB Extreme III CF card is currently going for $205 shipped from Amazon. I don't know anyone who has tried it with an Axim, but I see no reason it won't work.

Personally, I would not buy flash media on Ebay as more often than not, they are fakes and the winning bidder will get a flash card with a label of 16GB but end up with a card that is significantly less in capacity.

Let us know when the price breaks below $10 per gig.

I've bought quite a few flash memory cards on eBay, and have yet to have a problem. I may just be lucky, but I'll be glad to post the names of the sellers that I've bought from.

I'll admit that I have not personally bought flash memory off of Ebay and I'm sure there are legitimate sellers out there but I've read too many stories right here on aximsite about people getting burned.

That may be quite a while since 8GB cards with shipping are just now hovering in the $10 per GB range.

I am a patient person - - I can wait. From what I have read, flash memory is expected to continue to drop in price through 2007.

If the flash prices continue their slide, we might see a $70 8GB CF memory card (currently at $83) and a $150 12GB CF memory card by the end of the year. Not quite $10/GB, but I might be tempted to bite at that price point.

Does anyone know if this is compatible with the x51v? I am interested in either this one, which now has only 3 in stock left or the 16 GB version which is also on sale:

http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-SDCFX3...3399853&sr=1-2

Can anyone confirm compatibility?

No reason why it shouldn't but I can't confirm. I don't think anyone's wallet has been brave enough to try yet. Just to let you know, that 16GB on sale is not sold directly by Amazon but by J&R Computer World, so you'll be charged shipping AND Tax since you're in NYC. Since you're in NY, you can just make a trip into the city and pick it up from J&R or B&H Photo which has it pretty much for the same price.

Yeah. I was thinking of just going straight to the store to buy it, open it, and test it before I leave.

But have people been successful with 8 GB at least? I think I'll take the plunge and I'll certainly let you all know.
