Formatting a Transcend 8gb CF card

Hey all,

I just got a Transcend 8gb CF card from Newegg for my x51v. Does anyone know if the card can be formatted in the Axim, or do I need to get a CF card reader and do it on my computer? If it can be done on the Axim can someone please tell me how? Thanks....

Yeah LBM, mine is also, but I like to format my cards just for peace of mind.

Thanks. I downloaded the trial version and formatted my cf card. I wish there was a freeware utility that would do this. SKTools is a very good software. I just don't have the extra $13.00 for it right now.

SKTools trial limit - only 6 items per list, no time limit. I think you not use 7 or 8 storage card's :) at one time...

Yes. It worked fine. I used to have a registered copy of SKTools when I had my x30, but unfortunately I lost the install file and the registration information.

If it works right out of the box, what is the theoretical benefit of formatting the card?

I don't know if there is any real benefit other than I originally said....for my own peace of mind. It is true that the 8gb cf card worked right out of the box, but the 4gb sd card had to be formatted because when I put it in the card reader it told me it was unformatted.
