Sandisk 16 GB Extreme III CF card for $250 at J&R

Holy canoli, I didn't know 16 GB CF cards existed! Just saw this on techbargains:

http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.proc...uct_Id=4137513

Pair this with a 4 GB SD card, and you've got 20 GB on your Axim :).

Yep, we had a little discussion about this in the 12GB CF thread.

That's amazing!

But I'm from Canada - does anyone know how it works, if I order from Canada?

I understand I have to pay Canadian taxes on top of the listed price, but what is "Duty"?

Is Duty = taxes, or is Duty charged on top of taxes?

(I called J&R - they didn't know).

Ah, yep, you beat me to it LocutusBorgman. Didn't see that :). It looks like no current or upcoming PDA/smartphone can touch the X51v in potential storage capacity...

The moment of truth. It sits on my desk as I type. I am going to open it and savor this moment...as well as make sure that it really works.

*crosses fingers*

It comes with its own carrying case. I don't just mean the plastic case. I mean a little baggier with which one can place and hold this prized possession. Both my computer AND my Axim recognize it as 15.26 GB. I can honestly say that I am now the happiest man in the world.

Now to sync my music!!!!!!

Cool beans! Congrats on your new massive new CF card.

Were you able to get a price adjustment from Amazon or J&R?

Not yet. There office hours are not amenable to my personal schedule, but I will be able to call tomorrow and hopefully get my credit card credited back a few bucks.

By the way, this card is a speed demon when it comes to copying files. I started copying my music with WMP a few minutes ago. I'd say ten minutes at most, but more like five. It has all ready done a fifth of my 12 GB of music.

BEASTLY!!!

So I called customer service today and they graciously credited my charge card the $50 difference between the price I bought the card at and the price now. Amazing people.

Wowz. They just don't make a microdrive that big yet, do they? Flash storage has eclipsed magnetic storage in devices of that size.
