8 Gb Compat Flash - DMA / PIO mode

I have seen an announcement for Trascend 8 GB Compact Flash card at newegg.
Almost by chance I went to the Trascend site and looked at the specs for these memories, and I have found there are two types of flash cards (link
http://www.transcendusa.com/Products...gNo=0&ModNo=98)
one for PIO mode and another one for DMA, both given 120x speed.
Does anybody know which one is best for the X50V, or is it indifferent ?

Looks like you should be able to tell from the part number which one it is, as the PIO ones appear to have a -P after the part number. Other than that, I don't think there is a way to tell.

But even if I know whether a card is PIO or DMA might not help. I still
need to know if Axim x5?(v) support both. If not, I'd still have a chance
to get the wrong one. And that's precisely my issue now. Any idea anyone?
I looked up X51v Owner's Manual, and found no results. Check Dell's users
forum, SanDisk, Transcend's compatability lists, no use...

I know, we've a Storarge Card Compatability list here in this forum. However,
I found that most have no part numbers. So I'm still a little worry I might not
get the one "certified" here by other users.

Also, I'd like a type II CF card just to avoid the "gapping" issue. Is this
hard to get? I visited a few vendors, but not all inventories were labeled.
Some were labeled as type I. Can we assume that it's by default type II
if not labeled?

How can you tell if the CF card is type I or type II because I don't see that while checking stores like EggHead for example, labeled on the cards or when checking the specs they have online. How can you tel?

type II CF is thicker thats the only physical difference. CF Hdd are CFII spec. if you want to avoid the gap you could buy a SDHC to CF adapator. they are spec II size and you could put in a 16Gig SDHC card..... either that or get a seagate or hitachi HDD . i have a SD to CF that works prefectly also a seagate 4Gig HDD .i dont use the SD adaptor any moer as i keep a 2 Gig SD and the 4Gig HDD in my 4700. try looking up the compact flash spec in google there is a heap of info there
