Are 4Gb non SDHC cards to disappear from the market?

I got a Transcend 4 Gb non SDHC card (TS4GSD150) and it works in my x50v.

I'm happy with the card and only hope that it will become cheaper as the newer cards come out. But maybe it's going to disappear altogether. I went to the Transcend website and the TS4GSD150 is no longer listed. They only list the 2Gb card now.

I am also hearing that x50v will never be able to read an SDHC card. Is this true? Can't a firmware upgrade fix this limitation?

If the >2 Gb non SDHC cards are being replaced by all the SDHC cards and my Axim will never be able to read an SDHC card, should I get some more while I still can?

My guess, from the other stories about cameras is that a ROM Update or something of that nature could resolve the problem. I have heard many stories of camera makers releasing new firmware to support these new cards. So it should only be a matter of software and drivers. Unfortunately, Dell is no longer providing the support for the Axim line due to many different factors, mainly that it doesn't pay as well as other markets that they are embarking on. So Dell could release something of the sort, but most likely it won't.

As to whether the non-SDHC cards will disappear, I doubt it. There are still people who want low-capacity cards. If they do disappear, it won't be anytime soon.

but it could be the same story as with floppies. they will be used less and less and suddenly you turn around and nobody is using them I miss those floppy disks. they were so cheap and flat. now my stupid USB won't fit inside the book.

Get a usb-able SD card, the ones that fold to expost a usb reader. tee hee Only then you won't then be able to find the marked page.
