Easiest and Fastest way is to use a multi card reader.
Put the SD and the CF in the reader and just use windows explorer to copy the SD to the CF.
This way you can check that everything is on the CF before deleting the contents of the SD.
You could do in the Ax but it would be very slow.

Thank you, Box, for your reply and your promptness. :not_worth
If I am understanding you correctly, is it just copying and pasting every file from SD to CF?
Will doing so enable me to continue using ALL the software originally installed into the SD card (as well as PDF, DOC and iSilo documents, and back-up data from Data Backup) but now residing in the CF card? No need to tamper with the registry etc? (I am a novice and technophobe!!!)
Unfortunately, I do not have a multi-card reader.
I may just try the other option: having the 2 cards within the Axim that is docked in the cradle and connected to PC via ActiveSync, opening the SD card using the PC, and copying the SD contents and pasting into the CF card, then deleting the contents of the SD card.
Sorry, my mistake, I was only thinking of data files. They can easily be copied and pasted. You can copy and paste whole folders and not just one file at a time. But using Active sync will be very slow, you can buy multi card readers very cheap nowdays, it's worth it if you want to transfer lots of files.
Software installed on a card would need to be altered slightly. Shortcuts and such would be pointing to the wrong place. I've never had to do that so I hope someone else will tell you how to do it.

If I am understanding you correctly, you would recommend Pocket Mechanic over Ice Mirror in my achieving this goal of mine:
- that is, Ice Mirror will not work here (registry and shortcut problems still exist)
- and you have done, using Pocket Mechanic, exactly the same as what I intend to do now (transfering the entire contents, including installed programs, from an SD card to a CF card, and have the operating system recognise the new location of the installed programs so that they can be used as before).
Before I download the trial version of Pocket Mechanic, how easy is it to use, and where should I install it to (main memory, SD or CF card?)?
Thank you wholeheartedly for your imparted knowledge.
I don't know what the limitations are for the trial version. Best bet is to download it and give it a go! I installed mine in the device, not the SD card.
The full version has a Relocate function that lists all your installed programs along with the path they are installed (eg if they are in SD card the path has the prefix "\SD Card\Program Files\..." ) You can select to Relocate a program and you specify the new parent folder.
In my case, I moved programs between Main memory (no prefix) and SD card ("\SD Card" prefix) It handles default shortcuts and registry keys. I've had to redo some of my SPB Pocket Plus shortcuts though. But all the programs worked flawlessly.
Yes, you have to do this program by program. There is no "move all from SD to CF". In light of this, you may want to just uninstall and reinstall your programs.
I salute you for giving me courage to proceed with Pocket Mechanic to relocate the installed software from SD to CF card. For the data files (Doc, PDF, iSilo), I shall just cut and paste.
If I continue to find it useful, I shall purchase it; in the past, I have been very reluctant to use such programs that, if used wrongly, can cause a disaster.
By the way, do I need to format/reformat the new CF card (I just inserted it, and it seems to work, like the SD card that is already in situ and in use).
I read somewhere on this forum that Pocket Mechanic can format the memory card so that the card operates faster.
If I sound like a technological imbecile, then I am!!
