A-DATA 16GB 40X CF card

For those of you who think the $130 rebate that is currently available for the SanDisk 16GB card is too much to swallow, Newegg.com has an A-DATA 16GB 40x CF card for $169.99 plus $4.99 shipping.

Hey guys! can you guys help me to make up my mind on what I should do for storage? I have the x51v and I like lots of room to put my videos and songs, but I am not sure what is better, weighing out the pros and cons. So what I am thinking right now is whether I should spend a load of money on big sd and cf cards or just get a cf usb host which will allow me to hook up my 40 gb portable hard drive. I do realize these are really different solutions but any input would be appreciated.

I like the SD/CF cards solution, since they occupy less space (Dell executive leather case with SD and CF cards). Why not do both? A USB host is sweet. I would buy one if they weren't so darn expensive.

2x4GB + 2x2GB SD cards.
1x4GB CF card.

16GB is enough for me.

Has anyone tried the 16gb card in their Axim yet?
I would really love to get that but am not sure if the Axim will "see" all 16gb.

There have been a couple of members who reported that the SanDisk 16GB version works well in the X51v but haven't read any reports on the ADATA 16GB.

I am tempted to buy one of these, but am wondering about speed as I'm not one who fully understands these things. Is 40x OK in an Axim 51v for listening to music, watching movies, and playing the 3D games etc. ? Or is it too slow? I apologize if the answer should be obvious - I just don't know and don't want to be dissapointed if I buy one only to find out it doesn't work well. . .

Yeah has anybody bought that card? It is now like $136 at Newegg. I'm tempted but cautious. Thanks!

Just got mine yesterday & already filled up to about 90%. No problem so far with my x51v. Now I have a total of 20Gb storage space.

If I can only find a portable speaker dock then I'm set.

Any update on this? Glad to know all 16GB are recognized, but how is the performance? My intended use is music and video files. I have absolutely no clue what 40X means (forty times what?), but there are cards out there that are 100X, 120X, 150X, even 266X. Is 40X good enough to watch videos on the X51v?

I think I will wait a while and the 16GB cards will come down to around $100 price range. I have a 8GB CF and a 4GB SD and that is enough for now. I am sure there will be some deals around time school starts in the fall.
