Micro SDHC and Micro to SD adapters

Was thinking of getting a micro SDHC card from my new pda. I know micro SDHC is not compatable with devices that are not HC rated. If I have MP3s on my Micro SDHC card, can it be put into an SD adapter and used in my windows XP laptop with SD card slot and work? I also have a CD player with SD card slot to play mp3 in my boat off the SD cards. Will a SDHC in the SD adapter work in my CD player? I know they are coming out with 8 GB Micro SDHC in 2008 and 4 GB Micro SD is alread out.

Most pdas don't support SDHC.. the adaptor is a physical adaptor, it will convert a micro sdhc card into a regular sized sdhc card. it won't handle the compatability issues

Thanks for the bad news. I'm getting the Pharos 600 PDA/Cell/GPS that come from the factory with a 2GB micro SD. Not sure yet if it is the SDHC or standard yet. Hopefully its HC. If its HC, then it SHOULD handle the upcoming 8GB micro SDHC?

SDHC equals NO, that's it at the moment, adapters do not change the propertis of the card

Here's a question though. I have seen card readers that fit in the CF slot and support SDHC, would something like THAT work, since it's a card reader and on the CF slot?

Granted, why fill up the CF slot for an 8 gig card when you can get an 8 gig or even a 16gig CF card, but at the same time, I wonder if it would be more like my card reader on the desk, and allow me access multiple sticks at the same time, effectively giving me the potential for more space.

However, the real question I would have is, would it work if it's a CF slot card reader and an SDHC card in an axim?

It MIGHT work - nobody's had a chance to test one out, IIRC; but then again, there's the risk that the SDHC to CF adapter might not be recognized as a valid device, or that it might not read or write the while thing. From what I recall, most 'to CF' adapters are just that; adapters, which means you'd have to shut down the PDA when switching card types, rather than being a 'multiple cards at the same type' reader.
