Microdrive
Does an hitachi microdrive work in a C.F. drive? An auction on ebay says it will, but I am a bit suspicious. Help appreciated.

As far as I know they do, but I don't have one personally, many on the site do and love them.
But still it is Ebay so be careful and watch what it is your buying sometimes a Hitachi Microdrive can end up being a cardboard cut out, hey it happens.
But it should work with a CF II slot.

im using an 8 gig seagate microdrive, it works pretty well as far as i can tell. only issues are that its a little slow and it can be more power hungry than a normal card (however i dont really notice a difference in battery life) if its a really good deal than i would go for it (best way to bet alot of storage space) but flash memory gets cheaper and cheaper, so you could probably get an 8 gb CF for under 100$

If it was ripped from an mp3 player it will fit in the slot but probably won't work. If you don't want to take any chances don't buy it.

I agree , there have been several topics about this issue. if you do a search you can pick up some useful info quickly.

as someone said if this drive was pulled from a mp3 player the firmware on the microdrive will not allow it to work in a CF slot . some of the pictures for these drives even have "for embbed use only" written on them . ask for the firmware version of the microdrive and check the manufacturers site to see what its original implementation was.

before i read about it i bought one of these "MagicStor 2.2 GB CF Micro Drive"
worst thing i did. yes it could stor files but they dissapeared or i could store movies on it ,which was why i bought it , but TCPMP could not play files from it . not even mp3's . so beware what you buy double check it will work with a sarch on this forum then if all is good then buy it. im an ebay regular you only get caught if you dont know what it is you are buying and from whom....

I have just got my hitachi 4 GB microdrive couple of days ago,
it works perfectly on my CF-USB reader and on CF-PCcard adaptor with my laptop (so I dont think it was pulled from a player),
nontheless it goes undetected on my axim.

any thoughts about that ..?
Thanks,
