a HCSD or Hacked SD ..?
I have recently got a 4 GB SD Card (ok I have to admit .. from ebay).
As I was looking for a non-HCSD 4 GB and couldnt find any on retails, any way..
Here is the thing, it came FAT-32 formated with 3.7 GB capacity, copying data went terribly slow (with provided reader and my own .. both non-HCSD), any data copied beyond 2 GB although written considerably faster but is always corrupted.
I guessed it might be hacked 2 GB SD, I tried low level formating, but no use, I still get 3.7 GB of unformatted space to be formated with only FAT-32 no matter what I do.
it worked in the axim, pocket mechanic saw it as XP sees it, I even tried low level formating from there and again got the same, ofcourse pocket mechanic wont let me format in anything less than FAT-32.
I thought about having a logical parition of 2 GB on the card after low level formating so it would function normally, or even changing the card size while formating from pocket mechanic, but then I thought of something else..
Is there any possibility this might be an HCSD and is causing this issues because of the incompatible readers, I never dealt with hacked cards before but I dont think they are this presistant, I think it would only take one low level formate to reveal the actual capacity. beside reading the uncorrupted data from the card is reasonably fast (within the 2 GB limits).
My question is, how would a HCSD card behave in an axim or in a non-HCSD card reader, is there any win XP fixes or drivers to download for enabling HCSD support ..?
Thanks so much if u made it this far,
Edit: Panasonic SD format utility couldn't formate the card although it detected it (says either incompatible card or reader)
