If you buy off of E-Bay then you need to read carefully and check your PDA's specs.
Do you buy from a particular seller or an assortment of different sellers? And what are there handles/names?

It seems we may have been scammed by the same Ebay Trader 'XYCTrade'? I too suspected my 4gb card was a 2gb card as soon as it arrived. I verified it as such and posted an immediate 'Negative' with my reasons. My intention was to warn off other buyers. He claims he didn't know (which you have confirmed is probably a lie) and has asked me to remove the 'negative' and return the card which I have refused to do. I am also short of a Samsung '4gb' Flash USB2 memory stick which was purchased at the same time from the same guy. I doubt now I'll ever see that or the refund without a serious fight. He's now getting quite nasty but I am standing my ground and have escalated it with Ebay. Yet this is the first time I have been scammed with memory of any description on Ebay so I can say my latest deal isn't typical.

My dealer was "Lovegift". I too escalated this with eBay, or PayPal. I received long emails from eBay claiming they took it very seriously. But they told me I had to report it with Paypal. I told PayPal that I was willing to send the card to a third party, but not to return it to the seller. But after a few days PayPal told me that the case had been resolved in my favour, and that I could have a refund. BUT, I had to send back the card to the seller. And I had the pay for it, and it had to be a trackable shipment. That would cost approximately the same as what I had payed for the card. The only action I could take was to enter a trackingnumber. I didn't care to do that. I have written a couple of mails to PayPal asking why I have to return it to the fraudulent seller when he most likely just will sell it to another unfortunate buyer. They haven't answered that. The seller is still in business.

Very true. My 4GB SD card actually holds 4GB.

It's a pity that newegg don't ship outside of the US. Does anyone know a cheap and reliable supplier that ship to Europe?

Since I escalated with Ebay over the 'XYCTrade' 4GB!SD Card I have had nothing but abuse from the this guy. He desperately wants the card back but I won't post till he refunds and pays the posatge which he won't do. He says he's an honest dealer who has been scammed himself. Yeh, right! That's why my 4gb Flash stick hasn't appeared either then? He's withdrawn all the SD cards from sale, probably because Ebay said he had to, and accepted it was bogus but he hasn't offered refunds to all those he's already sold to. Just wait until they realise it's a bogus card as the vast majority don't, quite surprisingly. All I've had off this guy is - abuse, threats, accusations and blatant lies but not one single apology. Apparently he doesn't deserve the 'Negative' feedback I gave him even though I've paid him for two items and only got one, a dodgy one at that. He's out of pocket and I should feel sorry for him, and I'm disgrace to the British. Just what planet are these people on???

I'm no fan of Ebay, so I have no idea how the prices compare, but I've bought numerous memory cards from amazon at decent prices. Amazon is (in my experience) always reliable and there's usually a huge selection of cards and suppliers, so you can usually find something at an acceptable price.

Secondly, I recommend 7dayshop.com - Online shopping made easy !. They have an excellent selection of memory cards and many other bargains! They only supply the UK and Eire, though, not the rest of Europe. The downside is that whilst the prices are very good, their delivery times are rather slow - usually between 5-9 days, so no good if you're in a hurry, but I could spend a fortune on this site!

Well my problem with XYCtrade is finished as far as Ebay is concerned - they kicked him off! He has admitted to me in his last email that he wouldn't have refunded my money if I had sent the phony card back. I'm stuck with 2 negatives from this thief that Ebay say they cannot remove due to their 'policies' but never mind they do understand my frustration, but others will work out what the truth is by cross-referencing the feedback. What planet are they on? Ebay and PayPal offer NO PROTECTION whatsoever as they expelled him before the money could be refunded out of his Paypal account. Well done Ebay - very clever. There are dozens of these very same cards still for sale on Ebay and if you read the negative feedback they are all hacked cards. So why don't these people do what I did and report them? At least we'll get shut of most of the scammers that way. It's no good just leaving a Negative as they are counteracted by the rather too quick, and rash Positives (before the item is fully checked). I am a little frustrated that some of these things are still being sold and bought by buyers who obviously don't read the Negative feedback.

I have made a cracking purchase on Ebay to compensate for the recent problems. It's basically a superb Nano clone (no Apple logos and doesn't use iTunes). Purchased for £35 inc £5 delivery the build quality is superb and conatins 4gb of memory. It's a video/MP3p/eBook player, radio tuner, 4gb flash memory, photo player & more, with a superbly clear 1.8" screen. I just cannot believe the value and the quality and all from a local seller in Blackburn who offers full refunds. What superb value when you think how much you pay just for 4gb flash memory and MP3 alone.

I have bought from several different people on e-bay, e-bay can be a great way to buy many things or sell many things, and like any other "open market" there both good and bad dealers and buyers. There is never any "guarentee" that you are going to not get screwed. The reward with e-bay is fair market pricing the risk is coming across a bad apple. Caveat Emptor is the watch word do your research.
1, Know what your buying (sounds obvious but this thread is the direct result of this one being ignored.)
2, Set a ceilng on what you are willing to pay. (Watch to see what the fair market value in setting your ceiling check the items in the Auctions Completed section.)
3, Be realistic something for nothing happens only in stories that begins with Once upon a time and end with and the lived happily ever after.
4, Check your sellers history negatives should be read and wieghed.
