4gb SD card only shows 2gb now ?

Hey guys,

I have a 4gb non sdhc SD card, I made the mistake of trying to use it on a Canon camera that formated the card to 2gb.

I cant seem to get it back to 4gb, wether I format it as fat32, or ?
I can only get it to show 1.99gb, it originaly showed up as 3.74gb.

can some one point me in the right direction.

Youve tried formatting it on a pc and it only gives a 1.99gb option, not a 3.74gb?
Maybe you could try formatting it through a command prompt window and see if that works. Sometimes it does.
Go to Start, Run and type in "cmd" and and type enter.
Then type in "format x:" and substitute x for the drive the card reader is.

I did try all that, nothing worked, the canon camera made a 2gig partition windows disk utility in control panel would not join the 2 partitions, nothing would work, but I stumbled on this disk utility from HP, and it alowed me to format the card in fat, fat32, or ntfs, and it also gave me one partition.

yes you need a third party formating program. win xp etc format prog is capped at 2 gig......
