Sandisk Extreme III 8GB CF PDA Compatiblity???

Hi, I just got a great deal on a Sandisk Extreme III 8GB CF card, but unfortunately it does not work with my HP iPAQ hx2755 pocket Pc, which really surprises me. When inserting the CF card, into my iPAQ, I get a message box telling me to format the card since it is not recognized. After clicking "yes" to format the card, it is still not recognized. I also formatted the card using windows vista and it still is not recognized by my iPAQ? I am wondering whether the card is any good since it is also not recognized when running the sandisk memory utility software in my windows vista computer (could be my external CF reader though?)

Thanks for your help!

I could be mistaken, but I thought that ipaq supported any size cf card. You might want to try formatting it with storage tools on your pocket pc. I've never had much success formatting on my desktop then using on my pocket pc...

I'm sure I read somewhere that the hx2755 would take a maximum of 4GB but I can't find it again. I did find this review though:

hx2755 Specifications

If you click Switch to Detailed View at the top of the page it then says:

CF I., CF II., MMC, SD, SDIO
Supports memory cards with capacity of up to 2GB and may complies with some (not SD 2.0/HC) memory cards with higher capacity than 2GB

It sounds like it's maybe not supported but perhaps someone else will know differently.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

check if it's a fake

Hi, where did you get it? If it was ebay and it was a "great price" there is a good chance it is a fake. check here
eBay Australia Guides - FAKE SanDisk Extreme Compact Flash Cards Exposed
Otherwise it may be a faulty card.
I'm no expert but my understanding is CF cards of all sizes are compatible with all devices with a CF slot.
May the Force be with you
