Erase SD Card before you swap for new one
My SD card is corrupted. It can not be recognized/formatted by any card Readers (under Win2000 , XP or any ultilies progams on WM2003 / WM5). I had my SD backup 3 weeks ago and daily backup on working documents so there are no loss except time to reload.
To be sure nothing can be done to save the card, I downloaded and installed dozen of the free and demos of Flash recovery programs to try them out. GetDataBack is the only one that worked for my card. It displayed all the recovable data including file names and directories.
Since the Card is still under warranty, I could run to the store and swap for a new one. But I had a second thought : if there are programs that can read and recover my wrecked SD Card, is it safe to swap for the new card with my data intact ?
Fortunately, DiskExplorer demo allows to write any data to the corrupted SD Card and effectively "erased" the data that should have been recovable.
What did you do with your Flash memories when it can not be fixed and it is under warranty ?
