Data lost. How to recover them?

Hello world !!

I have a Transcend 2Gb SD card in my iPAQ hx2410.
I used this card for TT6 Europe Map, plus my favorite, etc..

Suddenly the SD declares itself empty, but looking to card properties I can see that the card has more than 1 Gb of data.
I put the card in a card reader on my PC and still the same: properties say the card has more than 1 Gb occupied but only one file (ttmobile.bif) appears.

One year ago the same happens to a CF card (all data were lost, despite the card was declared almost full).
Do you have any idea what has happened and how to recover>

THANK YOU!!!

I haven't seen that. I have seen two card errors. One, removing the card while was being accessed and the data really was lost. And the card being renamed from Storagecard to Storagecard2, so things on the pda stopped working, but the data was all still there.

If you are left with one great big file, don't know how to tell you to recover things. Googling that filename, it seems that holds the config for the gps software/maps.

Honestly, I back up my SD card every week or so just to make my life easier.
