I'm thinking you'd need three chips. Linux on chip for host controller. Wifi chip and perhaps disk controller. You could probably run it off of a AAA battery. Get the form factor just small enough to fit on a keychain and you're in business.

This would be very cool if they got the interface correct -- imagine a 20 or 40gb HDD for your PPC!! :approve:

More on the .85 HD microdrive

I think there is a newly emerging technology ....called something akin to PETA....not to be confused with the animal rights group.... I read somewhere that this technology could be used to greatly increase storage and decrease size with no moving parts.....I am not sure about the dtails but I read it recently.....What Axims need is high storage, short access time and ultra low power consumption....

Thought about it, but it's just a little too big. OTOH, if I'm out of town and go jogging, I probably would because I use the Axim as an all in one device.

But I do ride with it on the motorcycle. The vibration from motorcycle engines has killed more than a few iPod HDs cleverly mounted to the handlebars.

If I had an HD built into the Axim, I'd turn it off and use SD while I'm riding, but transfer stuff back and forth at the end of the day to change my playlists/maps.
