ooops. Sorry.

Actually no. it didn't. It doesn't seem to do it as much, but it still does it. Probably once a day or at the very least once every other day. I am trying to figure out if there is a pattern as to when it does it.

I considered returning it.... but there isn't another card on the market at that speed for anything close to the price.

When you guys formatted it did you guys use fat32 or fat? I used fat 32.

Mike

I've given up on the card for the sake of programs. It's still awesome for videos and music.
I got an Kingston 512 coming this monday that I plan on using for programs now.

about how long does it take to fill the 1GB up over USB2.0 ?

And what's a small, solid, fast, yet cheap card reader ?

I have a new Kingman 1 g card 2 week old, just upgraded my x30H to A05. That all went fine, but now the x30 does not see the card at all? It did before, help!

I guess I'll add my "2 cents". I, too, have the Kingmax 1GB card, and every so often I notice that my X30 doesn't ssee it. A soft reset or removing and re-inserting solves the problem....at leats until next time. Otherwise, I'm happy with the card.

I have a new Kingmax 1gb SD card from Newegg. Its been acting crazy for me too. Sometimes it reports as 975mb and other times as 495mb; it will even switch sizes when I am using the device. Files updated at one size do not show up at the other. Following the advice in this thread I reformatted the card using a card reader on my office computer. It reports out at 975 mb or 1,023,000,576 bytes. (I know I've seen this topic debated here in another thread).

I'll report back in a few days to let you know if this resolved the problem or not...

Unfortunately, reformatting on a card reader/soft resets, etc do not seem to make a difference. The card does seem thinner than my Sandisk 128mb card that I got with my Axim30. Maybe there is just something between this particular card and Dell?

i bought this card as well, let me tell you its crazy, i just lost 1G of stuff 5 times this week, good thing i back my memory card on a dvdrw or imagine the pain i have to go thru reinstalling everything

now here is what happened, i have a x30 high, fresh new firmware (with WMP10) when i first put in the card, it recognized it immedaitely, i transferred the files and whatnot, after one night, axim ask me if i want to format the card, i was like what the hell?! so i pop it out and put in my card reader, shows unformatted, tried my camera, samething...

long story short, i formatted (tried fat and fat32) and restore my backup, same thing happens again after one night or a few hours

i am having it up to here with this 1G Kingmax card, gonna request an RMA to see if the next one is better

they are thinner but i don't think its a problem as i can use MMC card in my axim without any issues

On a sidenote...How do faster SD cards work?

I mean for faster Hard Drives, it's a matter of higher RPM speeds and bigger file cache...But Secure Digital cards are solid state (no moving parts) so how is 1 card FASTER than another when there's nothing moving around?

I think the fast sd cards have more data lines. I have seen some advertise 4 data lines instead of just one but I could be wrong.

I've had a 1GB Kingmax Platinum in my x30h for the past week or so and have had no problems with it. It is a tad thinner that other cards but it fits snugly enough in the Axim's SD slot. Will continue to monitor for problems just in case. It seems a backup isn't a bad idea for any flash memory.

Look at the metal contacts on the card are they in good shape? Are they equally spaced apart. Since it is
not the exact same form factor as the other cards (ie thinner) then when you insert it are the contacts misalined inside the pda causing the wrong pins to contact each other which can erase the card?

Looking for an update? you guys still having trouble?

I am about at wits end! i downloaded that game street dual and was playing yesterday, which is full screen) and in the background the pop up came up YET AGAIN asking if i wanted to format my card. I must of hit yes. I saw it flash or flicker through to the game but didn't think anything of it. when i exited the game, my sd card was formatted.

this god damn card must be pulled out and re-inserted at least twice a day. i have never been so unhappy with, what should be a good product, in my whole life.

I have still not found a replacement that runs at 64x, but i am considering just getting the Lexar 32x one.

Anyone else still having trouble with this horror?

Mike

p.s. i did have a backup on my HD. luckily. But it was over a month old... so i had to re-install a couple of apps.
