SD card or CF card?
Ok guys i bought a X50v to replace my X5. I have been waiting for dell to get their act together and have a cf slot again. Well It is time to get a huge memory card. The biggest one i have right now is a SD 256mb card. My quetsion is, should i get a cf card or an sd card? My sd 256mb card runs a little slow. Not sure if that is the card or if thats just the weakness of sd. I use to use a cf wifi card in my x5 and an ir extender cf card. But now that i have no use for a wifi cf card and the ir extender cf card does not work in the x50, i have that option to use the cf slot for memory. What do you guys suggest? Any slowness with SD? I need some pros and cons for both.

I'd go with the CF for the price savings although right now prices seem about neck and neck. I think that in the long run CF will remain cheaper than SD. I'm not sure if the speed issue really applies to PDA's I know it makes a big difference in cameras though because it's all about the write speed.

Thanks, i think that is the way to go. I mainly just want to store large files like movies or music on there and the best part is i can always use it in my camera when i need to.

ecost.com has good deals on 1GB+ cards quite often. keep an eye on their "Bargain Countdown" section.

I have both - I had heard that there was a limit on the size that the axim could read and that the CF was higher than the SD. I only think that this would apply over 1G. I have a 1G SD and a 2G CF. Maybe someone else knows the exact limit if there is one and can comment. I like having both becasue I use one for Programs, Backup, and docs and the bigger one for movies and mp3.

Thats what my intensions were. SD mainly for programs, files etc and the cf for the more intensive i.e. movies and music etc. I just ordered a 512 sd card for 23 dollars, couldnt beat the price! but i will still get a cf card shortly. Can never have to much storage .

Thanks again

which card?
I also would put the programs on the SD card and use the CF for data/av. I do it this way becouse my digital camra uses CF cards and this way I can pull the card and view the pictures on my PDA without problems with the programs!

Don't forget that SD card can be write protected while CF cards cannot.
