how to format a locked card?

my friends accidentally locked her nokia 6600's MMC card. now it cant be read. ive tried formatting it using my card reader on my pc but it wont read. is there any proper way to do this?

Most sd/mmc cards have a physical lock on the outside of the card that slides up and down.

with MMC card and locked by a nokia phone i think we are dealing with a different problem

try this, put card in the phone, key in *#7370#
if the phone lets you format the card, you are fine, no reader will otherwise format the card as far as i know

i know about the physical lock/unlock switch on the card...and its not locked.

i should give it a try on the phone then.

if its shouldnt work, can i just wave a strong magnet over it? hehe
