Storage card "disconnects"
I have an X30 with a 1GB Kingmax Platinum SD card. I like the card, works fast with GPS maps...BUT....my X30 doesn't always recognize it; that is, when I look for it on my X30 "it's not there". I have to either take out the SD card and re-insert it or do a soft reset. Now, I realize this isn't major problem, but it is a nuisance. Can anyone else relate to this? Having the same problem? Have a solution?

Thanks,

I've noticed that if I've suspended my Axim X30 (turned it off), it takes a moment or two after turning it on for it to recognize or load everything that is on the card. Then it works great.

Is it possible that you're trying to access those files too quickly after turning it on? If so, give the PDA a few moments to orient itself. I know I like about 15 minutes to orient myself when I get up in the morning...I can give the X30 10 seconds...

I had the same problem. As choirguy said, seems like it takes a moment for the AXIM to power up the card and read it. I've found that sometimes, turning the Axim off and on again results in the SD card being recognised faster.

I had a kingmax 1gb with the same problem - and there are several threads here discussing the problem. I tried reformatting the card in a SD reader (with different FAT settings), but that didnt help.

I ended up sending my kingmax card back -- I guess thats really the only other solution.

Good luck

I've had the same problem with my 512 Sandisk cards. Sometimes it reads fine when it's inserted, other times it still sees the old card even though the new card is in, and requires a soft reset to see the data on the new card. One other piece of info, I don't know if this is a Sandisk issue, but one time I put too much data onto one of my sd cards, and it corrupted the whole card. Had to use my desktop to format the card and restore the lost data. Never had that happen before...
