Switching from a 512M to 1G SD Card

Do I just copy the contents of the old card to the new card using a card reader? Will programs work from the new card, or do they need to be reinstalled? This is for a Dell X50v. Thanks.

Copying the data as is to the new card will work as I did this from a 256 to a 512. I had no problem at all.
If you get dead silence after breaking the speed of sound, would you be in the darkness after passing the speed of light?

There will be no problem as long as all the paths are the same.
