Where to buy SD-Card

Hy,
im from Germany and I pay about 100$ (about 75Euro) for a 1GB Sandisc SD Card. As I have seen on some US-OnlineStores I could get them for about the half in US.
Does somebody know a cheep shop in US which ships to Germany/Europe? And: please no rebate where I have to send back something as german mail is so expensive. Paying via Paypal would be fine, but creditcard is also possible.

Thanks a lot

Your probably not gonna get one for half that price even if you live in the US and have a rebate, the cheapest i have seen them is about 70$$ from stores without a rebate. If they did internatinal shipping it would probably come out to about 100$ because they would rip you off on the shipping. I would just spend 75 euros on the one in Germany. :approve:

Yeah, all of the cheap prices in the US include rebates, and when the rebates are available, the SD cards go out of stock very quickly. If you find an American vendor who will ship to Germany, it's possible yu will save a few dollars, maybe 15, but I really don't know where to look.

Hi Astounded, it's great you have the performance of the various SD cards. Is there such tests for CF cards as well?

Anyone know if rebates can be placed under another person's name although I may be the one who bought the item in the first place? Interested in getting a CF or SD 1GB and a friend is bringing the item from the US for me, that's why I'm asking. Thanks for any answers provided.

Keep up the great work everyone. :)

It's best if you give your friend the money, then your friend buys the card and fills out the rebate.

Maybe I would do just that. But heard that rebates do take quite a long time to clear sometimes, so I don't know if I should trouble him on that. Keeping my fingers crossed that he would help me out. Anyway thanks Astounded.

Well, if you think the value of the rebate is worth your friend's trouble, you could always pay them the full amount for the card, and let them have the rebate.

Considering that it would be coming out of the country anyway, perhaps the lower starting price compared to elsewhere in the world would be worth the loss of $20 anyway. The dollar is in decline against most currencies, isn't it? So that $20 may be more like $15 for many people.

I'd personally look at some of the Lexars for sale at places like Sam's Club and so on, where the initial price is $71-$74 and leave it at that, if waiting for a rebate is such a negative.

Sd Card Search

Hey,

Have you tried searching on EBay? I found a cut-rate price months ago on an Axiom 1GB SD Card. They are manufactured in Asia somewhere. I haven't found any listed lately, but I haven't looked in a couple of months for one. I don't need any more SD cards.

Good luck,

The trouble with eBay is that it's so....troublesome. 95% of the final prices I see there are not worth it. Most of the good prices might save you a couple of bucks, and just to do that you need to bid carefully and watch the auctions closely. True, sometimes you can get a great deal, but to me, it's simply not worth the time invested.

I do agree with you Astounded about bids on Ebay but if one is lucky, sometimes you can get an item at a very low bid (hope that less people is bidding on it.)

Choirguy, any amount of rebate is a lot of money from where I am. So am really hoping I'll be able to get it. At the same time, I've also thought about getting a card for the full price w/out rebate. So still have not decided which yet. Thanks for your suggestions though.

Would like to check with you all. How long will the Standard Flat Rate Shipping Service take to send an item? Thanks.

within the United States, nothing takes more than 5 days, and usually items arrive in about 2-4.

I don't know what service that is, but it sounds like it might be a post office rate.
