I think CF+ has something to do with the old Joranda line from HP probably not the same but I'll check.

All CompactFlash cards are solid state (Flash is solid state). Other types of devices besides flash can be put in the same size cards. These are referred to as CF+ cards. The IBM microdrive is in a CF+ Type II card (5mm thick).

So the CF+ refers to the fact that it's not Flash memory but a microdrive.

I think the Joranda thing was CF extended or something like that.
