.........but, none-the-less there are AximSite Rules that need to be followed to protect the Site and Chris from possible litigation.
One of these rules is NO HOT-LINKING IMAGES. It is, simply put, stealing bandwidth from the site you are grabbing the picture from. If you provide a link to the Page the picture is from and/or make the picture itself a clickable link, than hot-linking is usually OK.
The other alternative is to copy/DL the image to your own web space and link to that picture.
Thanks for the reminder...I had actually hot-linked a picture in the past, and I went back and deleted it. Sadly, someone else had quoted my, and the link is still active in their response.
I haven't done much of that since I realized that you can attach (and manage) images through the actual posts themselves.
Mr. K...how many images do you have on your web directory, anyway?
And hyedipin, the 6 GB Western Digital is excellent, and only a foreshadowing of what is to come in the future. Remember, it will cost less than half of what it does not about a year from now...It's probably going to be open season on 2GB CF cards, however, in the near future.
Maybe it is time you really need to learn where people publicly upload images and can freely hotlink..
Enough with your "protecting bandwidth" crap already.
Thanks.

Ax'em Rules,...
Axim Rules...
back to Rules, We really don't need any, which HAD NOTHING TO DO with my image posting as you can see above..
Chris should change your title to "bandwidth patrol" or whatever because it is really irritating.

It's not that we need a bandwidth patrol. It's just bad Internet manners to hotlink. Everytime someone new views this page, they are taking bandwidth from that server that is hosting the image.
If it's your server or your bandwidth then it's fine. Your $. If it's hotlinked from the Western Digital site (for example) that's kinda rude.

Just as I pay a good deal of loot to keep our bandwidth flowing, these sites also pay for bandwidth and hotlinking uses their bandwidth without any benefit to themselves or their users.
Users should not do this please. Posts that have hotlinked images should identify the source. If it is on your own site or server, go ahead - but mention it's source in the post. Do not hotlink to sites you do not own though. Thanks !
That image is coming from http://img159.exs.cx so if this is your space then it's not a case of hotlinking. That of course still doesn't change the rules about hotlinking, it just means that they may not apply here. It would be wise to post the source though.

One click to the http you provided above reveals that "ImageShack®(http://exs.cx) is a dedicated internet digital content hosting service." And that it's "The perfect place for the ImageShack upload form: the reply section of forums!"
I know it sounded like a campaign for them, however they are probably now offering this service free until people get used to it, which will eventually turn into "credit" based system (which is now the base of their ZIP UPLOAD feature) and later "credit per upload/display" feature.
I have been using imageshack very happily since beginning of 2004 and registered to keep track of my uploads.
img159.exs.cx is just one of thier randomly generated subdomains to store the user uploaded image. Everytime you(/me/he/she/anyone) upload an image it will go into some other subdomain, however if you are registered, you can see them anytime on your control panel, and can link to those with one click.:approve:
E-SIPA is another site where I am moderating (e-sipa.de) and where I had originally posted the image. I copied the image from one of the news sites, possibly PPC thoughts.I hope next time we can be just a little bit more investigative before we smash someone's ballz.
Now...
What do you think about this CF? I am yet to find anyone putting the price to it, but it will be probably just too expensive to buy at this point, which also reminds me of my day when I paid $225 for 512 SD .

Yeah it's incredible how fast the prices come down..
I have NO CF devices and actively avoid them. But hopefully there will be slow through benefits to the SD suite :)

If we go way back, we will end up remembering when floppies were hot and were costing way too expensive.
Howard, I would not switch my CF X5 with anything at this time. I love CF, and with CF GPS nothing could be easier. If I had X3/0 i would have to fiddle with cables and cords and adapters just to get my GPS running, now just a slip and you go. :)
In the meantime I am trying to get rid of my $175 or so paid CF card with a trade or something so that I can get 1 gig SD or something and keep CF available for GPS all the time.
Anyone wants 512xCF + 512SD, let me know :) maybe someone will have a spare 1GIG SD.

I missed the CF boat with my first real PDA being an EM-500 and so even then when I had my X5 the only CF card I owned was a wifi card. All my memory was SD. So when I bought a little digital media player it was SD. And when I bought my digital camera SD was a required media type then too.
But for I/O etc. the flexibility of CF is awesome. And was we can, for mass storage of data too :)
