My Axim always wants to format my SD card

My PDA: AXIM X30
I recently purchased an ATP 1GB 60x SD card. The first time I inserted the card it asked me to format it and I clicked ok and everything was good, I copied MP3 to it and played them fine. The next day I turned on my Axim, and the message popped-up again, asking me to format the card again before I can use it. I took it over to my PC and it said the same thing, it wanted to format the card. It looks like if I leave the card in there for sometime, overnight, when I turn it on it asked to reformat again. I tried formatting the card on both my PC and PPC using FAT32. I tried low-level format using Pocket Mechanic, I ran Card R/W test and if found no errors. If I keep using the PDA on and off it seems to work, but keeping it off for a long period of time I have to re-format.

I don’t get it, I think the card is fine, maybe my Axim is doing something to the card??

Please help...
Thanks
Daniel.

Just click on No, or is it Cancel? and you should be able to go on using it.

I tried that, every time I click 'No' the card does not show up on the device (Pocket Mechanic does not detect it either). Same thing on the PC, if I cancel the request to format it does not let me use the card.

Thx.

Sorry then I'm out of ideas. I thought it was like an older issue with some cards that was fixed by a ROM update. Which Axim are you using?

Hi everyone,

I am a rep from ATP, and I would like to do my best to make sure everyone is happy with their cards. We have had a couple reports about our 1GB cards having these recognizing issues. After some testing, it seems to only be happening on high speed cards such as our cards and the Kingmax cards.

We are currently running some more testing on the issue, but first can you try: using a USB card reader and windows to first reformat the card into fat16. The use the USB reader to copy files and NOT activesync. Let me know if this helps. Quality assurance is a our first quality, so we will do our best to make sure all are happy. If you have any concerns or issues, anyone can email me anytime at jwh@us.atpinc.com

Thanks!

-Jeff

I have a call open with you guys too. I am having the exact same problem. I'ts making me very sad since I couldn't wait to be using this card to watch movies and listen to music all at a wonderfully high speed. I was looking forward to doing all that and not switching out the card because of the amount of programs I have installed on it.

I haven't had luck with anything at all. I hope to hear about a fix on this soon. Right now I am uneasy about trusting the card again since I save most of my documents and my eWallet on it. It's a pain to find out you lost information.
