Now, I doubt the site admins here would steer us wrong by allowing ads from incompatable products, would they?

I'm kind of scrambling. I've had an IBM microdrive for 3 years or so and I think it's finally dieing. It was only a gig and now you can get gig SD cards so I figured I'd look for either solid state or another of these more modern mcrodrives. IBM says that they are sharing the distribution with Hitachi, but hey...for $67... a speed of 4500 rpms over 3500 by Hitachi...Why not?

Is the price too good to be true? I'm running PPC2002 (still have WinMobile 2003 in my drawer because not alot of software is yet compatible).

Does it work or not?
I tried it on my x5 running 2003 and it did NOT work. but it works fine on my x50v. I formatted it as fat32 but it worked out of the box at fat16. only issue so far is that it does not get recognized after a soft reset without removing/reinserting it. but it works every time so far.

I have this same drive, but it does not work with my x50v. I can put a bunch of mp3s or video files on it with my reader, but my x50v never sees any of it. Others here have had same problem. I'm looking into the Hitachi units.

I think they have a return policy, don't they? JoeQ, you might be able to return it and get your money back.

What is the advantage of formatting it to fat32 over fat16 other than it recognizes the additional .2 GB?

Works just fine for me also. I'm putting movies on it to run with Beta Player. :)

Well, it's good to know, at least.

MX30user,

I noticed that you have listed that you are looking for a 1 gig SD card for $50. I just bought a Lexar SD at office max for $60 after rebates. The rebate is advertized online but the local retail shop will honor it. The shelf price is $99 less $25 instant less $15 mail in. Hope this helps...

Don't certain players only look for media in specific folders such as My Documents? Try creating a My Documents folder on the drive.
