Will this 5GB Seagate work in my Axim X50v?
5GB ST1 Seagate CF Card. It's ripped from a new Rio MP3 player
And the guy said he tried it in his HP HX4700 Pocket PC.
The model of the cf is #ST650211CF
I also do not see any firmware number on the back of it.
So will it work in my axim x50v?

Cards ripped from MP3 players usually don't work. That's all I can say.

If you look around the site, you'll see a mixed bag of reviews on the Seagate microdrive. If it's an older Rio, you may be fine. The newer ones seem to have had some factory changes that prevent them from functioning in the non-OEM devices.

Almost all drives ripped from Rio's will not work in the Axim.

Some have worked before the manufactors fixed the hard drives......

I've got one and it works in my Loox 720, but I got it before Xmas. The model no. is the same as you posted, but it's probably the serial no. you should be checking (that was certainly the case with the Hitachi microdrives).

The serial on mine is 3ME0KX64, the P/N is 9AF212-001.

But if the guy's genuinely had it working in his PPC then it should work in your Axim, despite the different makes. That's unless the Axim has a particular problem with them that I've not heard about of course.

I would agree with bugblatter. Some of the earlier units worked, but not the newwer ones. This one looks to be from the first sets that were delivered before the Rio carbon Hack became so public, darn you internet !!!

And let's be honest...the 4GB Hitachis are dropping into the sub $160 range, new, with warranty; and the 6GB drives are out in the $270 range.

We know the Hitachis work...and they're just as affordable...and I've recently had a very positive customer serive experience with them...that's the way to go.
