Transferring files b/w memory cards

I am wanting to transfer programs from a smaller capacity SD card to a larger one. If I use activesync to explore the smaller card in my Axim, and then copy all of the files to a card reader with the larger card, will all the programs work? This would be a time-saver over re-installing the programs.

Won't it just be quicker to copy the 1st SD card to your HD using the Card reader and then copy from your HD to the new card?

The speed of the transfer isn't quite as important to me. I just don't want to waste time doing only to find out I still have t reinstall everything.

The axim has no way of identifying an SD card. As long as the directory structure is identical to the existing one, the program will find its files and will work.

I do suggest a card reader.

If you're transferring from an SD to a CF, though, some things may have problems. The only problems I can forsee are broken shortcuts, though, and those can be recreated quite easily.

If programs are being copied from SD to CF then nothing will work because the directory structure will automatically be disrupted--while the Axim cannot distinguish between multiple SD cards in the same slot, it definitely distinguishes between the SD slot and the CF slot.

I transferred from a smaller capacity SD card to a larger SD card. The only problems I had were with programs that update via the internet. I'm suspicious that may be my connection as opposed to the transfer process. Everything else works fine.
