Hey, I know this problem has been posted/asked before, but I can't find a reference to it. Sorry for the duplication..
I have a Lexar 1G SD card that works great in my x50, but I can not access it with my PC. My PC says it's not formatted. I first thought it was a problem with my old PC or my card reader, but I just got a new labtop with a built-in 5in1 card read and it says the same thing. Why is this?
I have only used the card in my x50, so was it formatted uniquely for the x50? Do I need to reformat it on my PC? File transfer to it over ActiveLink are way to slow...
FAT32 is what the newer PC's use so I format my cards to that.
I bet if you let your laptop fomat the card it will still work on your X50. Activesync transfers will still be slow though. The cradle/sync cables convert USB speed to Parallel port speed.
Anything you really need on that SD card? If so even with Activesync's slow spped copy that to a folder on your desktop so you can put it back on the card.

Isn't RAW a digital camera format? I think those x "insert speed here" cards use that.

Thanks guys. I'll copy off the contents and reformat the card with my PC.
BTW, this aximsite is great! :approve: I usually can find answers to my questions with out having to post since someone else has probably hit the same issue. But when I do post, expert advice/answers are quickly provided. Thanks again..

OK, the problem turned out to be I needed to update the driver for digital media drive in my PC. Geez.. After I copied all 500MB+ of data off the SD card via ActiveSync, my PC still could not read or even format the SD card. An hour or two later, including a chat session with HP technical support, I updated the diver and now it's working. It probably would have worked with a smaller memory SD card. The latest driver I downloaded was released to support up to 2GB cards..
FYI, the SD card had a FAT format and my PC was able to read it just fine with the new driver installed. I went ahead and re-formatted to FAT32 anyway. Copied back all the data I had saved off and it's working fine in my x50v.

my quesiton is y would active synce convert the usb speed to a parallel speed? sometimes when i copy files thru active sync thru usb cable it would be very slow and sometimes it is fast...what is the deal here?
It actually converts to serial which is really slow and there is an option for it to convert files so they are compatible which is useless and makes it take even longer the files are already compatible

He's right, i think it's a hold over fron the days before USB was widespread. I got my ports mixed up.
