Heart problem of SD ....fixed ?

the other day i had the same problem with the SD cards as everyone elses is having; you copy somthing to it and it says full but registers as having half left (or whatever ?), i was pretty (erm....) .......anoyed (?) so i decided i wipe the whole thing and start again, i then put one empty file on it and filled it with all the stuff i ahd on it before...........and woohay....it works! i now only have 15MB left until its full, its a bit of a pain but it worked so.....hey! :approve:

I suggest formatting the card to FAT or FAT32 just to be on the safe side. This can be done in a card reader on a PC or in the Axim.

How do I format the SD card?
When I have the sd 512mb card in my axim, it gives me a write-protected error when I try to move files onto it.

Thanks...Arnie

Do you have the SD card write-protect switch enabled? (that little switch on the memory card)
Some SD cards don't have that switch but sounds like yours may be enabled

No, the write-protect tab is in the unlock position.

I tried that, but still no good. I also tried two other SD cards
that I have and get the same Error code 19 - write protected.

Any other ideas?
Thanks...Arnie

You need to hard reset.

If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the Axim.

Yep...I called Dell customer service. They agreed that the unit needed to be replaced. They sent one out and I had it the next day. Problem solved. Good customer service in this case.
