Question Difference between Hi-Speed and regular speed SD card?

Hi, I am about to be an owner of an AXIM X50v and I was wondering if there is a noticeable difference in using the Hi-Speed SD cards vs. regular SD cards?

Currently I have a Canon SD500 7.1MP camera & I have a 1GB SanDisk Ultra II SD card for that. But, I like having the hi-speed in capturing images b/c it makes shooting pictures and videos faster.

But, I'm not sure if there would be a need of buying another Ultra SD card for the AXIM. I would probably be using the SD card to store music, photos, files, and some programs on. Any comments?

Right now, there's a good deal at Office Depot (expires (6/4) on regualar SanDisk 1GB SD cards. $99.99 - $20 instant rebate - $20 Mail in Rebate = $59.99. I also have a $15 off $75 coupon making it $44.99 + tax after rebates. Any comments would be appreciate. TIA.

As far as I can tell, for Axim purposes a regular SD/CF card is fine. Buying a fast SD/CF card makes sense only for cameras or if you are going to use a card reader to read/write data to the SD/CF card. Axim does not read/write data at a speed more than what is provided by the basic SD/CF card.

By the way, where did you find this deal of SanDisk 1GB SD at Office Depot? On their website the only SanDisk 1GB product I can find is a SanDisk 1GB CF card for $78 and no rebates. .

Sorry for the off-topic posting.

Dell have a 1GB Ultra II for USD 79 until tomorrow. It is not a bad price.

You already have an Ultra II so you know that it is a sweet, sweet card.

PDAs can not utilize its speed but some cameras and especially card readers can. If you plan to ever exchange SD cards, buy for the future. If you are sure that you will only ever use the card in the Axim, take the savings and go with the cheap vanilla SanDisk.

Then again, some cards do not seem to harmonize well with some devices. My supposedly 66x Ridata 1GB SD performs OK in card readers or digital cameras but sucks in the x50v. My Ultra II and Extreme III cards both perform well.

I'd rather not go for a vanilla (blue) SanDisk.
