Hmm SD Mem cards,,,,,,,Worth getting the expensive ones?

I just received my x50V and I was looking into buying some more memory for it. :approve:

Should I spend the extra money and get the SD Cards that transfer at 10MB/s or is the x50V not even capable of transfering at that speed? The alternative is 2MB/s.

Here are the links:

10MB/s

2MB/s

:exc: By the way, I have noticed that the 2MB/s is a average speed and the 10MB/s is a maximum speed, and the none of the cards say both. So if they are the same speed, please let me know as well.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. Your welcome for the great prices on the cards! :hide:

For comparison of many SD and CF memory cards, see the following:

Take a look at post #114 by Choirguy. He has the final results cart.

Most of the people will say there is no pro to get a Fast card, but I don't agree. A faster card will have a better acces time.

Here is an example I had with one of my Windows Mobile 2003 device:

I got a 256mb Sandisk SD card. Having 10 icons in "Game" folder in Start menu. It could took up to 10 seconds to show them !!

I exchanged the Sandisk for a 32X Lexar. The same 10 icons took now 1 to 2 seconds to show.

So unless money is a real problem, faster memory is better (don't go mad, 32X-60X is ok, no need of Extreme III 133X here :D)

Don't buy the slow sd card for the x50v! I've a 2Mb/s compact flash, it took 3 minutes to load a 3Mb ebook. BUT with my ATP sd card 60X 9Mb/s, it took 5 seconds.

I bought a slow one and it works great. I store everything on it, including my nav sys, and I have no complaints.

But neither do you need to spend the extra buxx for super fast/Ultra SD Cards if you are only going to use the Cards in your Axim. A "normal" speed Card will do just fine here and will save you some of your hard-earned cash!

If you use a Card Reader to transfer Files, it will help when the Card is in your Reader/PC, but unless you regularly transfer Movie-sized Files you're not going to see much of an advantage.

However, if the Card is also going to be used in a Digital Camera, this is where the Ultra Fast Write Speeds will most be noticed. You will be able to take pix at a much faster rate. Cameras are what Ultras were designed for. :approve:

One thing to think about though,....is it possible that with WM2005 (I hear your Ax will be seen as a HD)....that a High Speed card would then be a HUGE factor?
