Worried Effects of Reformatting SD Card?

I have a Sandisk 1 GB card for my x50v. Occasionally, during a transfer to the card using a card reader, the PC is unable to write the file stating that the file is corrupt. The file is fine. To fix the problem, I format the card using the standard Windows format utility, with a filesystem of Fat32. Does anyone know if there will be detrimental affects on the storage card as a result of this "solution?"

Thanks,

I've had to do that on ocassion and I have suffered no ill effects other than removing all existing data from the formatted card. You might also want to try a scandisk or as they say in XP error-checking on the card first. That way you wouldn't have to reload any other files just have your PC fix the errors and you should be able to use the card again without a complete format.

Some SD cards are more sensitive when inserting and removing from card readers too often. Try it. Remove and insert your SD cards a couple of times in a row, and you should lose all your data on your SD card. And require a reformat afterwards. It did for mine. However, if I don't do this multiple times in a row, I won't have this problem. Mine is a 60x ATP 1G SD card. I use the FAT32 format.
