T-Mobile Wing: How Do I Get Rid Of Those Pesky Icons On The Taskbar?

On the MDA, you could just remove the files found in the STARTUP folder inside the Windows folder. I tried that on my Wing, and well, no joy for me!

I use iLauncher to put icons in my taskbar, and the 5 T-Mo icons are really CRAMPIN' MY STYLE!!!

How do I get that "stuff" back? TIA

You are posting this everywhere! :)

I don't have a complete answer, but check out HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet.

Back it up first! It seems like a mix of entries and keys that make up the icons. Closest I have gotten is to rearrange them and take two over and use them for a different app, but stuck with the original icon. I have been able remove some, but I did run into issues while playing around.

You can also remove the entire systray by going to HKLM/init/ and renaming TrayAp.exe

Harleyxlc:

Thank you for the response. I found the answer about four hours after I posted it. I was digging through the registry looking for the PDA equivalent of the Run key on a desktop windows machine. It appears that the Init section is that equivalent. I backed that key up, and completely deleted the TrayAp.exe entry. Soft Reset, and voila! It was gone!!!

I posted it in various forums to be sure to get an answer. Sometimes it is hit and miss getting quick responses, you know how it goes! Again, thank you for the response, and have a GREAT weekend!

Glad that worked! No worries about posting everywhere, it was just funny as I read your post around the internet :)

The app BatteryStatus that I have been using for overclocking also let's you add apps to the system tray. I have added my two manually, so I stopped looking for myself.
