MS Synch Center

Does anybody know if the new synch center in Vista will synch documents mail contacts etc from an XP computer? I have a new tablet and would like to be able to synch to my desktop XP. Can I get a USB data cable and synch that way or do I need laplink?

You need Mobile Device Center on Vista

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/activ...ce-center.html

On XP, you need ActiveSync

I guess I used the wrong terminology.
Can the Windows Mobile Device center Synch from another XP computer? Does the XP need Active synch? I cannot see how AS would work on the XP box. Is this this documented anywhere from MS or others?

vista doesn't do that, ActiveSync doesn't, and neither does MDC.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but you might want to check out SyncToy. You can use it to sync entire folders between devices. You cannot sync individual files. To learn more about this software and to find a link where you can download it:

SyncToy is the one you want...

Hi Chris, SyncToy does exactly what you are after. I sync my Vista box with my XP box ok. It also syncs the sub directories. It seems a bit like a cut down version of Laplink.

Regards, Nick
