Anybody with a convertible

How has the connector between the screen and the keyboard held up? How robust would you say it is?
Aside from possibly being heavier and the keyboard issue, are there any disadvantages or advantages of one over the other?
Finally on a tablet is there any place to rest your hand as you write on the screen?
I would definitely want ink recognition but I like a touch screen as well.
Final, final question do tablets come with IR ports? can I make a uber remote control out of it?

A small plastic pivot

Decent, used it for two years and never had any problems, but I would still be careful.

Since it was my main PC, not having a keyboard with me was not an option. I found it to be the best of both worlds and didn't think 4 lbs was heavy. But yes, other style tablets can be lighter.

No, you just rest your arm on the tablet, just like you would if it was a tablet of paper. it i a touch screen, but only works with a special pen. Different than the touch screen on a pda.

Some do and some don't, but low range will make this impractical.

Holds up pretty well

I have a Lenovo convertible about 18 months. Not heavy use but have dragged all around country. Hinge is fine but I'm sure it is vulnerable so I'm careful.

I just write on it with my hand and arm the same as on a paper pad - no problem.

Weighs about 4 lbs and I carry in a padded case so it is a lug. But I definately want keyboard as am a fast typist. The tablet is great for keeping other kinds of notes and sketches and using in meetings and the like when typing isn't an option.

The pen is not super comfortable to use but none of them are and the sound is terrible - really puny. But I bought and use it as a tablet and I love using it for that. I expect it to last a long time for its purpose.
